Well, nature can sometimes get the last laugh! About 40 minutes before post time in the first, the sky opened for a torrential downpour, washing out the steeplechase race and all turf racing for the day, including the feature. Fred got scratched out of picks in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 9th races – all in all a terrible outcome that made a weak card much weaker. Weather forecast looks better for Thursday – though much hotter.
